MethyLoci data Description
MehyLoci: distinct genomic loci of clustered methylation sequences.
MethyCancer database collects methylation data from 5 different sources: HEP, MethDB, UHN, Columbia University and BIG. Since the data from different resources are heterogeneous, we first created a uniform format to describe the diverse data and then integrated the data by mapping the corresponding sequences onto the human genome. Sequences (including CGI clones and predictions) mapped onto human genome were further clustered into distinct genomic loci, which we termed MethyLoci. Here we use MethyLoci to represent both CGI and methylation data for convenience of data explanation since altered CGI methylation patterns contribute to tumorigenesis.
